Yolanda Kirkpatrick
Clinical Assistant Professor, University of Tennessee, Knoxville

Yolanda Kirkpatrick is a master teacher with the Center for Enhancing Education in Mathematics and Sciences (CEEMS) and a clinical assistant professor in the College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences at the UT Knoxville. Kirkpatrick’s teaching and research interests are best practices of STEM teaching, culturally responsive pedagogy, experiential learning, project-based instruction and teaching in a digital age.  She has volunteered with a number of organizations including AmeriCorps and the Children’s Defense Fund Freedom School. Kirkpatrick began her career as a research assistant at Vanderbilt University. Her teaching experiences include teaching of science classes at a math and science center, as a graduate teaching assistant, and thirteen years at a community college in Tennessee. Kirkpatrick has taught general biology, microbiology, anatomy and physiology, and a biology concepts course for education majors. At UT Knoxville, she teaches classes in the Department of Theory and Practice in Teacher Education.
