Ferlin McGaskey

Assistant Director, Tennessee Teaching and Learning Center
Ferlin G. McGaskey has been the assistant director of the Tennessee Teaching and Learning Center (TennTLC) since 2013. He co-designed and directs the center’s Graduate Teaching Certification Program. McGaskey has worked in teaching and learning centers at both UT and the University of Texas at Austin.
McGaskey has a Ph.D. in higher education and a master’s degree in economics from the University of Tennessee. His primary interest as a faculty developer is centered on graduate students as teachers and emerging scholars. His research interests include the academic, personal, and professional experiences of graduate students with a particular focus on international students and students of color. He has been directly involved in writing and securing national research grants.
McGaskey is a Southern Regional Education Board Scholar and is a member of the American Educational Research Association, the Association for the Study of Higher Education, and the Association of Institutional Research.
